Hey people! Miss Juneberry is back (in ONE piece)!!but the LCD screen of my laptop cracked (am using sch's computer now)... so I will not be posting abt my Taman Negara trip or any other entries anytime soon..
You won't be seeing me online for 3 weeks too... cos repairs take a long long time..
To egeus: Yes! I love photography!! My sis's 7.1mp digital cam is my new toy now. Just that sometimes i can't zoom close enough to get the close up picts of birds i saw in the jungle.
About Taman Negara: Wonderful trip!! Every person should go there at least once in your lifetime.

of course i din bring my laptop along la.. hahaha..
i left it at home.. dunno which bugger cracked my lcd screen and din own up..
how expensive is it to replace the screen??
I think i die die must replace.. cos of all the documents and picts and music i saved inside
as usual, one does not realise the importance of back-ups until it is too late.. =(

the screen replacement I'm told costs almost a new laptop
most definitely u can buy a very cheap low end laptop with the money liao
this is esp the case for IBM
i had a friend who cracked his ibm laptop screen
tried to replace the lcd and was so put down by the price
in the end he went to buy a lcd monitor to use with the laptop rather than replace the screen
that was 3yrs ago, when lcd monitors were very very ex
and he said it was cheaper and more worth it
and anyway
if it's the data u are worried about
ur laptop is perfectly fine
if u get a new 1 u can just remove the hard drive of ur old laptop and plug it into a portable hard disk drive box
and then tada
u have a portable hard disk that is slim and small and more than 30gig
IF ur laptop is still under warrantee, then bring it back to them and see if they can do anything for u
and hey
u can also sell the parts of the laptop if u decide to buy a new one
laptop RAM can sell
though the rest I ain't sure
i have a friend selling his acer 12" for $1450. warranty till 2007. in perfect condition. if you are interested let me know.
its so fun? pass some info leh. dun mind going for a short trip during the dec hols. heh heh.
keep me posted of any photography outing, my toy only 4mp haha. tempted to get a new one with more adjustments available.

i dun like acer --> bad experience
the laptop is essentially a compact personal computer
it might be using smaller versions of what the PC uses, but it is essentially the same through and through
and now they are also adapting laptop hard disks into the conventional PCs coz it's so much smaller and space efficient
the data in the hard disk is everything there is to ur computer
if u took it out and use it as the main disk in another PC or laptop, u will see exactly the same things u wld see on ur own laptop
there may be a few smaller problems like diferent video driver and audio driver
but microsoft has made it's operating system so user 'interaction removed' that it can still function without ur needing to go and pre prepare all that stuff on ur own
and if u simply use the hard disk as a portable hard disk
then u can ignore everything liao
just get the portable HDD box and then plug into any other comp that has win2k and above
then u will be able to see everything in the drive
to metaphorise...

u saw me often lugging my laptop ard to tutorial rooms and plugging into the projectors rite?
it's the same thing with another LCD screen
but pls take note to buy a LCD monitor rather than a LCD TV
got a VERY big difference
I was at carrefour last weekend and saw 17" LCD monitor by LG going at very very cheap price
however
if u dun have another PC to use with ur LCD monitor then I wld recommend not getting 1 bah. it wld become a white elephant after that.
ur screen is so badly trashed meh? totally cannot see anything?

there are hiccups but not unsolvable
